Shop report continued Liberties - Needle and Thread

How do I identify with Needle and Thread
Looking around liberty’s I found it harder to identify with a designer (except from the actual liberty fabric prints) due to the way that the clothes that I saw where more fashion focused and that due to the stores negative vibe I didn’t stay and look around more at the different products it offered, but I did find the collection Needle and Thread that I have some infinity with due to the following reasons:
·         Embroidery that looks almost like print – to me my main focus is on the use of printing within a piece for use in fashion, but embroidery is one of the only other technique I like to use to really empathise special features and elements within the print or on top of it to give some depth and texture to the piece. I like to use embroidery for the reasons stated above and also due to the expensive quality it gives a piece, this is due to the way that embroidery is very time extensive and therefore costly to the designer to produce, so creates more desire for it as it is very rare to find it in fast fashion pieces.  To wear it you are giving a statement to others that you are of power, money or status giving a desired effect as its in our human nature to want to better ourselves so by looking of better quality it produces an image of this. The way that I feel that I have an infinity with this designer especially is that they use their embroidery like a print (where I would mix them together to create my look and more depth to my work) showcasing the way that they want their upper-class message to be clear and very confident which is an element I want to retain to my own work by mixing my refined prints with some embroidery, the use of embroidery as well is quiet old and timeless so the use of it empathises my style of creating pieces that are more resistant to the trends set and time (more classic feel to them) therefore it is key to look at the way that they use embroidery successfully to aid me tailor my mixed media designs so that they will be effective within the fashion textile industry.
·         Feminine quality – one of the main things that I really target in all my designs is the ability to make every design have a strong feminine almost girly quality to it and the summer collection of Needle and Thread really do this well with their use of a pastel colour palette and the flow/garment style that they adopt and that’s why I have an Infinity with them. To me by using these soft colours, floral imagery and flowing style that they and also me use really makes the outfits very desirable to my chosen market (young adult) as they style showcases their growth as an adult due to the more traditional older garment style but also their fresh youthful personality through the soft naive looking colours. This mixed together makes it desirable as by doing this it showcases the women’s femininity as these are qualities as well as things like the symbolism of floral imagery (florals are linked to being very delicate and beautiful) and the colour theory behind them that relate directly to women/femininity (which is something that we all want as it makes us feel more beautiful and desirable to others almost like they way that a flower attracts bees we want to be appealing so will buy something that can do this to due to the way that everyone are emotional shoppers s buy things that make us feel good about ourselves and our lives) Therefore making femininity a key feature to look for in all my inspiration.

Needle and Thread are one of the brands that are more realistic in what they produce as their prices are more affordable and product fitting more into the average persons wardrobe, therefore is a good brand to look at and compare to the other brands that I love a have an infinity with to see the difference between them and how I can use both as influence as they are for different markets (expense wise mainly) to help me make my work a success in the route I want to go down within the future
